3. William G. Bowen and Derek Bok, The Shape of the River: Long-Term Consequences of Considering Race in College and University Admissions (Princeton University Press, 1998 - $15.95)

NOTE - only the Carter book has been ordered through the University bookstores.  The other books can be purchased easily from a Web site like Amazon.com or from a local superstore like Borders.

Grades will be based on (1) class attendance and participation; (2) various small writing assignments; and (3) mid-term and final exams.
