Who Should Apply
Students who demonstrate a strong commitment to public policy and international affairs and who desire to continue graduate study in these fields. Members of historically underrepresented groups in public policy and international affairs are strongly encouraged to apply.
Students in their junior year of undergraduate study and who have at least one full semester of undergraduate coursework left before graduation. All majors are acceptable.
Students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Students should have exposure to college level math and/or economics.
Students who have an understanding of the rigors and rewards associated with an intense graduate study preparation program.
Participant Benefits
All participants in the Maryland Leadership Institute will receive the following:
$1,000 Stipend (payable in two installments at mid-point and completion of the program)
Assistance with travel expenses to and from the University of Maryland
University of Maryland housing and meal plan
Books and related course materials
Use of University resources including the campus library and computer labs
Students are eligible for a minimum $5,000 fellowship to over 30 professional graduate schools of public policy and international affairs upon completion of the PPIA fellowship program.
