College Park Professor Catherine Kelleher is the recipient of the American Political Science Association's 2009 Hubert H. Humphrey Award. The Humphrey Award was established in 1983 to recognize notable public service by a political scientist. Previous Humphrey award winners have included such distinguished diplomats, lawmakers and scholars as Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Representative David E. Price, Ambassador Max Kampelman, and former British Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Mo Mowlam. Henry G. Cisneros, former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and executive chairman of CityView, was most recently recognized in 2008.
“This is one of the Association's very highest awards and is a wonderful recognition of Catherine's distinguished service” said MSPP Dean Don Kettl. “Warmest congratulations to Catherine on this most-deserved recognition of a wonderful career.”
Kelleher will be honored at the Association's Annual Awards Luncheon and Ceremony on September 3 in Toronto.
