Charles L. Short has more than 25 years of experience leading and administering local human service agencies. He is currently secretary for social concerns with the archdiocese of Washington , D.C. Short previously directed the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services. He has served as chairman of numerous taskforces and committees addressing human service issues in Montgomery County and has represented the county executive on a variety of commissions related to government effectiveness, human services, welfare reform, preventing violence and workforce development. He holds a M.A. in Education from The Catholic University of America.
Charles L Short has more than thirty years experience leading and administering local government, private non-profit and faith based social services agencies. He currently serves as the Secretary for Justice and Service for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. In this role he oversees social policies and programs and advises the Bishops of Washington and Baltimore. He serves on the Board of Directors of several human care agencies, schools, and on the United Way of the Washington Capital Area. Previously, he served as Director of Health and Human Services for Montgomery County, MD where he reorganized the County's health and human services and led a department of 1500 employees with an annual budget of $200 million dollars. He graduated from Georgetown University and earned an MA The from Catholic University of America. He is a fellow of the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance at the University of Maryland.
