Nuclear weapons, arms control, and nonproliferation policy; nuclear power and the health effects of radiation; climate change and energy supply
Dr. Fetter has taught courses in national security policy, environmental policy, and quantitative methods since joining the School's faculty in 1988. He is also associate director of the Joint Global Change Research Institute , vice chairman of the Federation of American Scientists, and treasurer of the Arms Control Association, and serves on the National Academy of Sciences' Committee on International Security and Arms Control, the Department of Energy's Nuclear Energy Research Advisory Committee, and the advisory board of Human Rights Watch. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and recipient of the Joseph A. Burton Forum Award.
Dr. Fetter received a PhD in energy and resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and an SB in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been a visiting fellow at Stanford University's Center for International Security and Cooperation, Harvard University's Center for Science and International Affairs, MIT's Plasma Fusion Center, and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He has also served as special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy and was a Council on Foreign Relations Fellow in the State Department. |
