in-class sessions and 6 hours of one-on-one coaching via phone and email, all delivered within four distinct program phases.
Phase I: Orientation and Assessment
In the first month, participants will attend a three-hour orientation session. During this session, participants will complete two assessments (FIRO-B and MBTI) and discuss leadership challenges and program expectations.
Phase II: Feedback and Analysis
In month two, a two-day session will provide participants with (1) feedback from their assessments instruments, (2) insights and practical strategies from FIRO-B and MBTI for the management of interpersonal relationships, (3) one-on-one feedback coaching, and (4) directions and the completion of key foundational steps necessary for drafting individual Leadership Development Plans (LDP).
In the interim, between this session and the first module of Phase III, participants will draft their LDPs with the aid of their personal coach, mentor, and peer participant.
Phase III: Development
Five modules, consisting of a two-day instructor-led session, will be conducted in months two through six. Modules will be administered one per month at HHS facilities. Each module will focus on a different ECQ (Business Acumen, Leading Change, Leading People, Results Driven, Building Coalitions/Communications) and specific HHS Leadership Competencies.
General Format of the Modules
In general, the first day and a half of each module will involve interactive presentations by scholar-practitioners and hands-on exercises geared to specific HHS Leadership Competencies. The afternoon of the second day will be dedicated to one-on-one sessions with leadership coaches, one-on-one sessions with learning partners, and small group exercises.
Phase IV: Evaluation
At the end of the sixth month, a one-day session will conclude the Leadership Program. The Academic Director/Facilitator will lead a discussion designed to encourage participants to evaluate individual changes and gains in the HHS Leadership Competencies. Participants will have the opportunity to revisit their LDPs with their leadership coach and peers and to adjust their Plans to accommodate for gained competencies and strengths. The Program conclusion also provides participants with instruction and ideas for post-Program leadership development activities.
