Overview
The Maryland Government Executive Institute (GEI) is jointly sponsored by the School of Public Policy and the Robert H. Smith School of Business . The
GEI program offers a two-week comprehensive training session for mid-career State, county, and local executives who seek to enhance their public policy and organizational management skills. Experienced scholar-practitioners emphasize best practices in government, while suggesting ways participants can set effective directions for their agency through strategic decisions affecting values and goals.

Program Content
GEI participants receive instructions on topics such as: diversity training, effective presentation skills, public sector budgeting, negotiation skills, strategic planning, and team building. Each participant is nominated by his or her agency and their admittance is based on managerial competence, intellectual curiosity, and desire to improve performance.
