History of War Reporting:

The coverage of wars by journalists has evolved over time.  Wars have the effect of profoundly changing society.  The press, as reflection of society, is not immune to those changes.  As a result of technological advances and changes in the public's perception of the role of the press, wars throughout the 20th century have been covered in different ways.  Additionally, the role and status of a free press is often times re-evaluated during wartime as indicated by court cases and court decisions.  Below is a compilation of the history of war coverage:
