Analyzing Coverage

The coverage of a possible military conflict with Iraq dominated the news during the summer and fall of 2002.  The international media, but particularly the American media, focused on the U.S. government's rationale for war, what a possible war might look like and how the media would be permitted to cover it.  Below is a small sample of the types and range of coverage given to the topic in the months preceding military conflict:

PBS' Frontline takes a comprehensive look at Iraq, its leader, its press and the lives of ordinary Iraqis.

MSNBC takes an investigative look into the role Iraqi oil and energy resources play in American foreign policy and possible combat.  The site includes a debate on the merits of going to war with Iraq.

The British Broadcasting Corportation and National Public Radio separately have covered the anti-war protests prior and during the War in Iraq.

Journalism.org takes a look at how other media covered or influenced pre-war and war coverage.

Journalism.org takes a look at commentaries on media coverage written on the war prior to, during and after the War in Iraq.
